Church E-Mail Blast

United Methodist Church at Newfoundland

United Methodist Men’s Breakfast will be held this Sunday morning, April 19, beginning at 7:30 am.  Join many of the men of the church for a hearty breakfast and an equally hearty discussion of what it means to be a man in our contemporary society from the perspective of our Christian faith.  This session will specifically focus on “A Man and His Money.” We wrap up our discussion shortly after 9:00 am.  Hope to see you there this Sunday.

Adult Bible Study will be in the Junior High Classroom in the education wing of the church on Wednesday evening, April 22, to continue our study of the Book of Revelation.  We will focus on Revelation chapters 12 through 14.  Most of the Book of Revelation is a recounting of John’s visions, and these chapters continue to share his visions.  All are welcome to attend and to join in the discussion.  It’s a great break in the middle of the week to focus on faith and the Bible.

Help CUMAC Fight Hunger –  As is becoming tradition, we highlight our congregation’s mission efforts during worship on the third Sunday of each month.  This Sunday we hope many of you will bring in food that will be sent to CUMAC, the food bank located in Paterson.  Even as the economists are telling us about the recovery at the top, the folks at CUMAC are seeing more and more people who desperately need food come through their doors.  We can make a significant change in the lives of people by sharing food this Sunday in church.  Canned food that is high in protein is especially needed.  As a congregation we are faithful in our support of CUMAC.  We hope to see youthis Sunday in church.  Thanks!

United Methodist Women – Our next mission project will be preparing Health Kits for UMCOR to distribute anywhere in the world they are needed.   There will be sign-up sheets, for the specific items needed to complete the kits, in Fellowship. Next week in the e-mail blast we will share the items that are needed.  If anyone in the congregation would like to participate, we ask that you sign up for the item or items you want to donate.  It is our goal to assemble 30 kits.

Annual Church Plant Sale – More and more, it seems that we can trust that spring is really here.  As in years past, the church is selling plants that will enhance your gardens.  Get an order sheet from the church and place your orders soon.  The pickup date for your plants is Saturday, May 9 between 10-11am. Thanks!

Elder Law Seminar  – Local attorneys, Debra Lynn Nicholson Esq. and Thomas J. Hayes Esq., will be presenting an informative seminar on Wills, Living Wills, Durable Power of Attorneys and Long Term Care Options at 7:30 p.m. on May 18, 2015 at the United Methodist Church at Newfoundland.  One of the questions that will be answered will be “How can a new Will save my heirs $33,200?”  Following the presentation, there will be a question and answer period and Attorneys Nicholson and Hayes have volunteered to review any documents that are brought to the presentation to advise if they are in compliance with current state law for any attendees that wish to have their documents reviewed. (Please bring photocopies where possible) If you are interested in attending, please contact the Law Offices of Debra Lynn Nicholson by phone  at 973-729-3988, by fax at 973-726-0017, or by email at thomas@dnicholsonlaw.com.  In any communications, please indicate the number of individuals planning to attend.  This information will ensure that Ms. Nicholson and Mr. Hayes will have ample copies of their hand-outs.  This event is free to the public.  All are welcome.

Easter Blessings to you all,

Rich
