Today marks the beginning of the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday. We’ll have a soup supper tonight at 7:00 pm with a worship service following.
Lent is a time to pause and catch our breath as we look long and hard at the state of our souls. It’s a time of preparation for the gift of life that is revealed on Easter morning. I pray you’ll take the next 40 days to go deeper in your faith and to grow closer to God.
Each Sunday in Lent we’ll be exploring the Gospel of John and how to catch our breath in difficult times, such as times of suffering, loneliness, and fear. Then on Wednesdays we’ll go a little deeper with a small group study building on Sunday’s sermon. I hope you’ll join us for supper and fellowship at 7:00 pm.
On Sunday, April 14th we’ll hear about Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem with Palm Sunday worship. Thursday, April 18th at 7:30 pm is an opportunity to gather around the table with Jesus and his disciples as we remember the last supper, and Friday, April 19th at 7:30 pm our Chancel Choir will share a Tenebrae Cantata of the Dark Hours. Our Tri-County clergy invite all of our churches to a 6:30 am Sunrise service on Easter morning, April 21st. And of course we’ll have our 9:00 am and 11:00 am Easter Sunday services of Resurrection.
Blessings for a holy Lent,
