In response to the President’s and NJ Governor’s directives that there are to be no gatherings of more than 10 people, our Bishop has recommended that all in-person worship services be suspended.
We want to take every means possible to protect people’s health and to stop the spread of the coronavirus. We stand in solidarity with those communities which have been hit hard already, and we want to be a witness of what are appropriate behaviors and practices during a pandemic. Therefore The United Methodist Church at Newfoundland will not be physically gathering in the sanctuary for worship for the next 2 Sundays. Our worship team is working on how we can provide an online service through several options: Facebook Live allows us to stream the service, YouTube provides a link for anyone who has computer access, and Zoom offers the option of listening over the phone. We will provide more information later this week.
Please know that we are pioneers together in uncharted waters. None of us have had to navigate a pandemic before, but I believe that with the grace of God we will come through this struggle stronger. These challenging times are calling us to be more intentional in our care for one another, more mindful of our impact in our community and beyond, and more prayerful in our spiritual life. I trust that God will continue to provide, that Jesus will journey with us, and that the Holy Spirit will inspire us to greatness.
Blessings and peace,
